I guess it all depends on where you buy your product. I bought mine new in Frys few years ago. Now I hope more weeks without power due to hurricane Ike & I wish to purchased some as Frys not containing this model - just a little one running N battery. My first purchase was because it ran on cheap, easy to find AA batteries. I am now loving it because I get home at night, flip it and the soft flush gives me enough light from whichIt is pending can I move through several rooms of my house w / out having to carry a flashlight w / me every second. 2 AA batteries last few nights ... at least enough to act as a fairly bright light at night. As for the original information - it using a tourist to read or play cards through - we tried that a long time ago ... NA unclear unless the battery is fresh.
